Back to School between sales, offers and big lines of people...
Vacations are over. The seven weeks went by flying: summer camps,
the beach, visiting relatives, specially grandpa and grandma. Mothers
are now immersed in sunamis of sales to buy text books, notebooks,
etc. Soriana offers them electronic money; Apple computers will give
them an I POD if they buy a computer, but only to teachers and students!
Telmex will give them 6 months of free internet connection and local
satationery stores try to survive to such a great wave of generosity
counting on the fact of being right there, where we need them, close
to our vecinity, which means we can skip long errands, noise, smog,
and parking tickets in Guadalajara!
This year classes will start in the Lake Chapala ara with the educational
options we already know: Kinder Don Bosco, Kinder Tohui, Montesori,
Colegio de Chapala, Colegio Octavio Paz, Instituto Loyola, Roosevelt
School, and two new options: one offered in the well known campus
of Instituto Tecnol¢gico Superior de Chapala, with its Rector

appointed by Jalisco's governor, Francisco Ramirez Acu¤a. This
institution offers Computing Systems Engeniering, Electronics engeniering,

Or stop by and see their campus in Rio Lerma, 19, Rancho del Oro in

this new institution is moving ahead. Two weeks ago we went to take
a few pictures of the staff in their updating seminar. All the teachers
and staff are very enthusiastic. The contractor, Mr. Cuevas is about
to finish some adaptations the building need. You could see people
replacing grass in the soccer field and heavy machinery getting the
basketball and volleyball courts ready. The principal, Aurora Espinosa,
told us that besides the programs required by the oficial education
authorities, they will offer evening artistic, cultural and sports
programs such as dance, teathre, music, photography painting, swimming
computer skills, basketball, volley ball, etc., and this programs
will be open to students and parents from the Lakeside area in general.
She told us that Instituto Terranova comes into existence as a school
committed with the social programs of the area, giving priority to
making the students and their parents aware of the need to get involved
and collaborate for the betterment of all aspects of the surroundings
of our hometown.
